Creating Multiple Portfolio Pages

All of our themes can be used to create multiple portfolio pages. Portfolio pages can be used to show off your work / projects in a neat grid layout. If you want to have a portfolio which displays a different page title or only specific projects then follow the steps below to create a new blog page.

Firstly projects will need to be added to your site. A portfolio consists of projects, and it is the projects that are displayed on the portfolio page.

  • To add a project go to Portfolio and press Add New.
  • From here firstly assign a featured image to the post. This image will be output on the portfolio page. It will not be output on the individual project page.
  • When a project is hovered on the portfolio page. An short description of the project can be displayed. By default the information displayed will be picked up from the main content of the project.
  • For greater control over what is displayed we recommend that the excerpt field be used. In this case, the description output on the portfolio page will be picked up from the excerpt field and not the main content.
  • Some themes will include a pre-made project page layout. In this case a Project Information options panel will be available. This information should be completed and will be output on the individual project page.
  • Before saving the project ensure that relevant tags are assigned to the project. You can assign as many tags as you like. (e.g. Web Design).
  • Continue to add more projects repeating the steps above for each.

Once the projects are created, next a portfolio page will need to be created. By default all of your projects will display at the url http://www.YOUR-SITE.com/portfolio. Creating a portfolio page using the instructions below allows for greater control over the content displayed, and can also be used to create multiple portfolio pages.

  • To create the portfolio page go to Pages -> All Pages and press Add New.
  • Add a title to the page, the one you would like displayed on the portfolio (e.g. Gallery).
  • Scroll down the page to “Page Attributes” and select the “Portfolio” template from the dropdown list.
  • To assign projects to this portfolio page add tags to the page which have the same name as the project tags you want to include.
  • For example if you want to include all posts that have the tag “Web Design” then the tag “Web Design” will need to be added to this page. Multiple tags can be assigned. All projects that match any of the tags will be displayed on the portfolio page.
  • By default the settings applied to the portfolio page (e.g. layout, project information) will be picked up from the main theme options panel under the Portfolio tab. To apply settings specific to this portfolio page please use the in-page portfolio options panel.
