In a continued effort to make it easier to switch between themes we’ve made some changes to our framework. Previously in a small number of cases, the theme options may not have automatically transferred when switching to a new theme. In this article we show how to backup your existing theme options and then import these to the newly installed theme.

Note: This method is rarely needed. Where it is required a notification will refer you to this article on the theme downloads page.

Step 1 – Backup Existing Theme Options Settings

To backup the theme options options settings do the following:

• This step must be completed before switching / upgrading the theme.
• Go the the theme options panel and select the Import / Export tab.
• Scroll down to Export Options and press Copy.
• Copy the contents in the text box that appears.
• Paste this somewhere safe as these will be required later. This is your backup file.

Step 2 – Import Theme Options Settings

To import the theme options options settings to your new / updated theme do the following:

• Ensure the new theme / update is installed.
• Upon activation you may find the theme options panel is empty.
• To import the settings go the theme options panel and select the Import / Export tab.
• Scroll to Import Options and select Import from file.
• Paste the theme options settings into the text box that appears (copied in step 1).
• Press Import to override the existing theme options settings with those in your backup file.
